Having  to defrost<\/strong>  your  refrigerator<\/strong>  is often a pain, so much so that we sometimes tend to postpone the operation  for as long as possible. <\/strong> However, doing this  periodically is  <\/strong>very important<\/strong>  for at least two reasons. Firstly,  storing ice<\/strong>  in the refrigerator means that  it consumes more energy<\/strong>  . In addition, ice can  damage the food<\/strong>  in the refrigerator and  affect its preservation. <\/strong> So what to do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defrosting<\/strong>  your refrigerator does not necessarily have to be a  long and tiring operation: there are <\/strong>alternative<\/strong>  and  faster<\/strong>  methods   . Let’s see what they are. Before you begin, however, remember that it is  very important to prepare the work area<\/strong>  and equip yourself to  do things safely. <\/strong> To do this, be careful to  cover the floor<\/strong>  so as not to dirty it, and  turn off the refrigerator<\/strong>  . Also,  do not carry out<\/strong>  these operations when you are  alone<\/strong>  at home or  very tired<\/strong>  . <\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using  the hair dryer<\/strong>  to  melt ice<\/strong>  inside the refrigerator certainly  saves a lot of time<\/strong>  . This method allows you  to melt  larger  blocks of ice, so that you only have to <\/strong>scrape off<\/strong>  the residue. To do this, however, you should always be  careful<\/strong>  not to let the  hair dryer and its cord  <\/strong>come into contact with the ice<\/strong>  .<\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defrost the refrigerator with a hot spatula<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This second method consists of  heating a<\/strong>  kitchen or other spatula by placing it on a  heat source<\/strong>  . At this point it will be enough  to stick it to the ice, which  <\/strong>will break down<\/strong>  with the heat. However, if you choose to try this method, it is very important to pay the  utmost attention<\/strong>  not to  burn yourself<\/strong>  , so  it is not recommended<\/strong>  to do it  when you are alone<\/strong>  in the house or are not sufficiently  awake and lucid<\/strong>  . <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pots full of hot water<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Many of you may have already thought of it, but filling  the pots with hot water<\/strong>  and closing them in the refrigerator is an excellent solution to  speed up<\/strong>  the defrosting process,  removing<\/strong>  at least most of the ice. However, this method may take  longer<\/strong>  than others, depending on the  size<\/strong>  of your refrigerator and the  amount<\/strong>  of ice you need to melt. In addition,  the water<\/strong>  inside the pots after  about 10 minutes<\/strong>  tends to  cool down<\/strong>  while inside the refrigerator, so it needs to be  replaced<\/strong>  with other hot water. This could result in higher<\/strong>  water consumption. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

use a fan<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If you decide  to defrost your refrigerator in the summer<\/strong>  , you can take advantage of the  fan<\/strong>  on. Positioned  in front of the refrigerator<\/strong>  , in fact, the fan will send  warm air<\/strong>  inside,  melting<\/strong>  the ice. Again, this is a method that can be  slower<\/strong>  than other direct methods. In addition, it is advisable  to protect<\/strong>  the floor with  buckets or towels<\/strong>  to collect the water that will inevitably drip from the refrigerator as a result of the melting of the ice. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Melt ice with a vacuum cleaner<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

It may seem strange, but  the vacuum cleaner<\/strong>  is a useful ally when it comes  to defrosting the fridge<\/strong>  . Be careful, however, this method is only feasible if you use a vacuum cleaner  capable of sucking up liquids<\/strong>  . If that is your case, you can start  by blowing air<\/strong>  on the ice. Then, switch to  suction<\/strong>  and  remove<\/strong>  the water and ice residue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Using a  vacuum cleaner<\/strong>  is similar to using a  hair dryer<\/strong>  , except that it is a little  safer<\/strong>  because there is no risk of putting an  electrical cable<\/strong>  in contact with the  ice<\/strong>  .<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Defrost the refrigerator with a cloth and denatured alcohol<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

The last alternative technique to  defrost the refrigerator<\/strong>  in a  less tiring<\/strong>  and  faster<\/strong> way  involves the use of  denatured alcohol<\/strong>  . How to do it? Use a  cloth<\/strong>  to dip in  warm water<\/strong>  , then moisten it with  denatured alcohol<\/strong>  . Once in contact with  the ice<\/strong>  , the latter  will melt<\/strong>  quickly.
