These channels are responsible for keeping blood and energy circulation in balance. When the meridians are free of blockages, we feel good, in good health, and pain-free.

This age-old approach proposes simple exercises that can be done from home to relieve common ailments, improve circulation and maintain vitality.

Below, we explore a number of practices recommended by Chinese doctors that can help you strengthen your health naturally.

How the energy channels work in the hands

According to traditional Chinese medicine, we have six main channels in our hands:

Thumb: related to the lung canal

Index finger: associated with the large intestine

Middle finger: linked to the pericardium

Ring finger: connected to the triple heater (an energy function)

Pinky finger: heart canal

Back of the palms: related to the back

When these channels are unblocked, circulation flows properly and the body functions optimally.

Exercise to relieve the heart and cervical vertebrae

A simple exercise can help with mild heart problems and cervical stiffness:

Extend your arms forward, as if you were holding a glass in each hand.

Start turning both wrists inward 150 times.

Then, turn outward another 150 times.

This daily movement can immediately relieve discomfort in the neck and shoulders. If you can’t rotate your wrists, it may be a sign that there are heart problems or bowel difficulties.

Therapeutic blows to the arms and palms

Another simple method is to strike the point just above the crease of the elbow (inner part) with some firmness, alternating both arms about 150 times each. If you feel pain, it could indicate a heart disorder.

If you’ve spent a lot of time sitting and your back feels tense, tap the backs of your hands against each other. Being energetically connected to your back, this tapping can bring you relief.

The Six Leg Meridians

Like the hands, the legs have six channels:

Outer Leg:

Lateral midline: gallbladder canal

Front: Stomach canal

Backside: bladder canal

Inner leg:

Inner side: liver canal

Internal frontal area: spleen canal

Inner back: kidney canal

Exercise to improve circulation in the legs

To activate circulation in the legs:

Sit with your legs slightly elevated.

Rotate both ankles 150 times to the left and then 150 times to the right.

This movement can also be done in the morning, before you get out of bed. Like wrist exercise, it helps improve blood flow and stimulates the meridians.

A healthy habit for every day

These simple exercises, based on principles of Chinese medicine, not only improve circulation, but also promote longevity and overall well-being. They are ideal to practice every day as a natural way to take care of your health.

Important: This article is for informational purposes.
