The problem is that over time, leatherette bags tend to “peel” and take on a worn and old look.

No matter how many bags we own, we always have a favorite one that we carry practically everywhere and is therefore more likely to wear out and show the first signs of frequent use.

Over time, imitation leather begins to wear out if not cared for properly. Sometimes it can even break and be irretrievable. However, if cared for, synthetic leather can last even more than 10 years. Below we explain how to do it.

You need:

EVA rubber

Glue for imitation leather

Fabric paint in the same color as the bag

Brushes

talcum powder

transparent nail polish

an eyeliner pencil in the color of the bag (or very similar)

If the stripped material is still whole, apply a little leatherette glue under the stripped parts and attach them, taking care to put them back in place. Finally, cover the white parts with eyeliner.

Apply an additional layer of leatherette glue, using a brush. Let it dry for 20 minutes.

In case any pieces of leatherette are missing from the bag, apply some eva rubber and cover the surface with a clean brush. Once the eva rubber has dried, apply the fabric varnish and let it dry again.

After a couple of hours, apply a layer of leatherette glue or, if you prefer, a transparent nail polish.

If the parts of the bag that have been repaired are a little shinier, apply a little talcum powder.

Share article

Important: This website does not give medical advice, nor does it suggest the use of techniques as a form of treatment for physical problems, for which medical advice is required.
