If you are an anthurium lover and want to expand your collection or share their beauty with others, propagating anthuriums through leaves is a fascinating and effective technique.

Anthuriums, native to the rainforests of South America, are known for their varied color palette and decorative heart-shaped leaves. These plants are highly valued for their ability to purify the air and their adaptability to indoor environments.

However, if you want to expand your anthurium collection or gift these plants to loved ones, propagation is a great option. The technique we will explore will allow you to do this using only the leaves of your existing anthuriums. In this article, I will guide you through this wonderful process step by step.

Reproduction of Anthuriums with Leaves

If you want to reproduce Anthuriums successfully, pay attention to the following steps:

1- Selection of Sheets

Start by selecting the anthurium leaves you want to use for reproduction.

Choose mature, healthy leaves, with no signs of damage or disease.

2- Preparation of the Leaves

For each leaf, cut the stem just below the base of the leaf.

Make sure the cut is clean and that there are no remains of the stem.

3- Stimulation of Root Growth

Using a toothpick, poke several holes at the base of the freshly cut stem.

These holes will be the place where we will apply the growth stimulator to encourage root development.

4- Use of Ripe Mango

The ripe mango becomes a valuable tool in this reproduction process. The enzymes in mango work as a natural organic fertilizer.

Place thin slices of mango on the surface of a pot with fertile soil.

5- Placement of Anthurium Leaves

Place the anthurium leaves on top of the mango slices in the pot. Make sure the holes you made in step 3 are in contact with the handle. Sprinkle a thin layer of soil over the anthurium leaves.

6- Abundant irrigation

Water the surface of the anthurium leaves and mango abundantly.

Keep the substrate moist, but avoid waterlogging. You can water it with a sprayer but remember to water it more

7- Patience and Care

Place the pot in a location with warm, indirect light. Make sure to keep the environment humid and warm. In about a month, you will begin to notice root development.

Reproducing anthuriums through leaves will allow you to create new plants from your existing specimens. Anthuriums are remarkable plants, and sharing their beauty with friends and family is a special gift.

With patience and care, you will be on your way to having an even more impressive collection of these exquisite plants in your home. Enjoy the reproduction process and the long-lasting beauty of anthuriums!

Anthuriums, known for their showy leaves and distinctive heart-shaped spadix, are popular houseplants that add an exotic touch to any home.
