14 Ways to Use Sodium Bicarbonate

By liliaturcin5

Sodium bicarbonate (also called baking soda) is used for cooking, cleaning, gardening, etc. Its effectiveness is such that it can be used for almost everything! It is also an ecological product and above all a product at a very low price. You know it by name, but do you really know how to use it?

1 – DISINFECT THE TOILETS

Baking soda acts as a very good toilet disinfectant. Simply pour 2 tablespoons into the bottom of the bowl and on the sides, then add white vinegar for a better result, and leave to act as long as possible.

2 – RELIEF FROM SUNBURN

In case of sunburn, you can fortunately soothe the redness and inflammation in a completely natural way with baking soda. Take a lukewarm bath to which you have added 2 cups of baking soda. You can also mix baking soda with your favorite body lotion to soothe a sunburn.

3 – DISINFECT A TOOTHBRUSH

Once or twice a week, soak your toothbrushes overnight in a solution of 1⁄4 cup baking soda to 1⁄4 cup water.

Rinse carefully.

4 – DEODORIZE YOUR TRASH

Trash cans can quickly smell bad. A little baking soda at the bottom of your trash can can prevent this.

5 – A DEODORIZER FOR THE FRIDGE

A cup, three to six tablespoons of baking soda, and put everything on one of the shelves of your fridge, preferably the top one. It will neutralize odors. We stir it once in a while and change it every month.

6 – CLEAN THE COFFEE MAKER

Just like cleaning the washing machine, you can use baking soda for your coffee maker. Add 45 g of bicarbonate to 1 liter of water. Fill the glass jug of your coffee maker with this mixture. For optimal effect, leave on for 1 night.

7 – CLEAN THE SOFA

Does your sofa no longer smell clean and fresh? Pour a little bit of baking soda between the cushions to sanitize it in 1 or 2 days. Then, vacuum to absorb any leftover powder.

8 – AN ALLY OF WHITE TEETH

You can mix a little baking soda with water to obtain a paste and use it with your toothbrush after traditional brushing with toothpaste. But be careful, no more than once every ten days so as not to damage the enamel. Rinse thoroughly.

9 – UNBLOCK THE DRAIN

Instead of harsh chemicals, you can use ½ cup of baking soda with ½ cup of white vinegar. Cover the drain with a cap quickly because it will bubble up! This can be repeated several times, then rinse with a good amount of boiling water (the whole kettle).

10 – CLEAN YOUR FLOOR

11 – CLEAN FOOD

You can never be too careful when it comes to food hygiene. Wash fruits and vegetables in cold water with 2 to 3 tablespoons of sodium bicarbonate. Bicarbonate removes impurities from tap water. Or pour a little baking soda onto a damp brush or sponge and rub the food with it, then rinse it thoroughly.

12 – AS A REMEDY AGAINST DIGESTIVE DISORDERS

Instead of buying antacid tablets, it is just as effective to dissolve ½ tsp. of baking soda in a glass of lukewarm water, then drink this mixture. It works for heartburn, indigestion, reflux, bloating and gas.

13 – FOOT BATH

Create your own foot bath by adding 4 tablespoons of baking soda to 1 liter of lukewarm water and bathe your feet in it for 15 minutes. This baking soda bath will eliminate bacteria as well as odors and help prevent the formation of fungus.

14 – WASH AND DETAIN LAUNDRY

Baking soda can be used for cleaning and soaking laundry. Its action against the lime present in the water gives the laundry softness and suppleness. Use it in addition to your usual laundry detergent (half laundry detergent, half baking soda). This product also has the advantage of acting as a stain remover. Diluted in water and kept in a spray bottle, it will always be on hand to spray grease, fruit or even wine stains before putting the laundry in the machine.
