Quick and Simple Tips for Effectively Defrosting Your Freezer

By liliaturcin5

A freezer consumes more when it is not defrosted. A small layer of just 3mm of frost causes your fridge to increase its electricity consumption by 30% to 40%. In addition, 70,000 cases of food poisoning recorded per year are caused by poor freezer maintenance and storage. If you get into the habit of defrosting your freezer at least once a month this task will become much less time-consuming and thankless because you will not give frost time to set in. 1 – WITH A BOWL OF HOT WATER Once the power goes out, put a bowl of hot water in the freezer and let the heat do its thing. If the water temperature is very high and you risk damaging the bottom of the freezer drawers, use a trivet. 2 – WITH A KITCHEN SPATULA If there are more resistant ice encrustations, and you cannot wait for them to melt on their own, try removing them using a plastic kitchen spatula or – preferably – made of silicone. Use it carefully to avoid damaging the freezer walls. Once defrosting is complete, wash and dry the interior of the freezer. You can also use a mixture of equal parts water and vinegar.
