This Ginger and Garlic Soup Fights Colds, Stuffy Noses and Sore Throats

Ginger and garlic are essential ingredients in our cuisine. They perfume and add flavor to our dishes. But their role is not only to please our taste buds, they also have health benefits.

To protect your health and adopt good reflexes against infections, a healthy and intelligent diet is a pillar that should not be neglected. Especially since if the latter are linked to a virus, antibiotics are not effective.

To remedy this, certain foods can help you. These can be prepared together for a soup rich in flavor to be consumed without moderation. To better understand its benefits, let’s review its main ingredients:


  • 26 garlic cloves (unpeeled), organic
  • 1/2 cup fresh ginger, organic
  • 2 cups chopped onions, organic
  • 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable butter
  • 1 and ½ teaspoon chopped fresh thyme
  • 26 garlic cloves, peeled, organic
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk, organic
  • 3 and ½ cups of organic vegetable broth
  • 4 lemon wedges, organic


  1. Preheat the oven to 150°C
  2. In a baking dish, put the 26 cloves of garlic, olive oil and salt then stir.
  3. Cover and place in the oven for 45 minutes until the garlic turns golden brown.
  4. Press the garlic between your fingers to release the cloves and set aside.
  5. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, then add the chopped onions, thyme, ginger and cook for 6 minutes, until the onions become translucent.
  6. Add the roasted garlic and the other 26 raw and peeled garlic cloves. Let simmer for 3 minutes.
  7. Pour the vegetable stock over it, cover and cook for 20 minutes, until the garlic becomes soft.
  8. Blend everything in a food processor until you obtain a smooth soup.
  9. In a saucepan, bring the soup to a boil, adding coconut milk then season with salt and pepper.
  10. Squeeze the juice of a lemon wedge into each bowl and serve.
