Goodbye aphids! Here’s how to make a powerful pesticide without spending a cent!

By Lesia

Often, the  plants we have at home become the perfect target for aphids.  These are very small insects that attack the sap of plants and obviously, over time, damage them. But are there remedies to keep aphids away from our home plants? Here are some tips that allow you  to fight them naturally.

What are aphids?

Most plants can be attacked by aphids, but what exactly are they? They are  tiny insects,  real pests that cause a lot of damage to all plants. They are  very dangerous for the health of plants , even those we grow at home. To prevent the proliferation of these pests from putting your plants at risk, it is essential to take immediate action.

These insects can, in fact, be easily eradicated, but the right remedies are needed. Since they  feed on the lifeblood of  plants, it is very important to eliminate them immediately, before they cause the death of our houseplants. Let’s see what are the best natural remedies to adopt.

Some natural remedies against aphids

To eliminate these dangerous pests from our plants, it is always better to adopt  natural solutions , avoiding the use of chemical-based insecticides. One of the most effective natural remedies against aphids is definitely  vinegar . Simply mix 1 liter of vinegar in 10 liters of water and spray the solution on your plants.

Another very effective remedy, which like vinegar is easy to find in the kitchen, is  garlic . It is an excellent natural insecticide that also reduces the risk of bacteria and fungi forming on plants. To use it in the best way, simply prepare a bowl of water and leave 3-4 cloves of garlic to infuse throughout the day. Once filtered, the mixture will be ready to be sprayed on your plants.

Tobacco  is also perfect for fighting aphids. Again, you will have to let the product sit, strain it and then spray it on your plants. The result will be incredible.  Liquid soap should not be underestimated either , which  mixed with water can be distributed on all plants.

Finally, if you have  nettles  available, you can use them as a remedy against aphids. You may not know it, but the scent of nettles helps keep these pests and other insects away from your plants. By spraying the solution obtained from the influx of nettles in water, your plants will be protected from aphid attacks.

Nettle maceration:

  • 10 liters of water
  • 1 kg of nettles

Soak the nettle in water, cover the bucket with a bag and leave to macerate for 15 days. Once the necessary time has passed, simply filter everything and it is ready to be used.
