IRON-INCREASE JUICE 🍏 A recipe that you should not miss trying

By Lesia

Alright, let’s get that iron-boosting juice recipe ready for you! As we discussed before, we need to combine iron-rich ingredients with Vitamin C to maximize absorption. Here’s a recipe that’s both tasty and effective:

Iron-Boosting Green Apple Juice

Ingredients:

  • 1 Green Apple: Provides Vitamin C and a touch of sweetness.
  • 1 cup Spinach: Rich in non-heme iron.
  • 1/2 cup Beetroot: Contains iron and supports liver function.
  • 1/2 cup Kale: Another excellent source of non-heme iron.
  • 1/2 Lemon (juiced): Adds a significant boost of Vitamin C, crucial for iron absorption.
  • 1-inch piece of Ginger (fresh): Aids digestion and adds a zesty flavor.
  • 1/2 cup Water (or more, if needed): For desired consistency.

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ingredients:
    • Wash all fruits and vegetables thoroughly.
    • Core and chop the green apple.
    • Chop the spinach, kale, and beetroot.
    • Peel and chop the ginger.
    • Juice the lemon.
  2. Blend:
    • Place all ingredients into a high-powered blender.
    • Blend until smooth.
    • If the juice is too thick, add more water to achieve your desired consistency.
  3. Strain (Optional):
    • If you prefer a smoother juice, strain it through a fine-mesh sieve or cheesecloth.
  4. Serve Immediately:
    • Pour the juice into a glass and enjoy it fresh.

Why This Recipe Works:

  • Green Apple and Lemon: The high Vitamin C content significantly enhances the absorption of non-heme iron from the leafy greens.
  • Spinach, Kale, and Beetroot: These are excellent sources of non-heme iron.
  • Ginger: Aids digestion, which is important for nutrient absorption.

Important Notes:

  • Iron Absorption: Remember that non-heme iron (from plants) is not as easily absorbed as heme iron (from animal sources). Combining it with Vitamin C is essential.
  • Dietary Variety: This juice is a supplement to an iron-rich diet. Include other iron-rich foods like lean meats, beans, and lentils.
  • Consult a Professional: If you have iron deficiency or any health concerns, consult with your doctor or a registered dietitian.
  • Avoid Calcium-Rich Foods: Avoid consuming calcium-rich foods or drinks at the same time as this juice, as calcium can inhibit iron absorption.
  • Freshness: Drink the juice immediately for maximum nutrient content.

Enjoy your iron-boosting juice!
