It’s not time that destroys people, but forgetting these three truths

By Vitia

We often blame time for wearing down our dreams, our relationships, or even our inner strength. However, it’s not the passage of years that truly destroys us, but rather forgetting certain fundamental truths that sustain our lives.

When we stop remembering them and living according to them, we gradually lose the essence of who we are. Below, I share three truths we should never forget, because they are what allow us to remain steadfast, whole, and at peace, no matter how many years pass.

1. The value of gratitude

Gratitude is not just a feeling, but a way of seeing life. When we are thankful for what we have—no matter how small—we keep hope and a sense of purpose alive.
Forgetting this truth leads us to live from a place of lack, focusing solely on what is missing and losing the ability to enjoy what is already present. A person who is not grateful ends up consumed by dissatisfaction, regardless of how many achievements they accumulate.

2. The importance of human relationships

We weren’t born to live in isolation. Companionship, love, and friendship are sources of strength that sustain the spirit in difficult times.
When we forget that our connections with others nourish and teach us, we fall into individualism, loneliness, and indifference. A person’s true decline doesn’t come with age, but when they sever ties with those around them.

3. The power of faith and hope

It’s not just about religious faith, but about the conviction that life can always be renewed. Hope is the driving force that propels us forward even when everything seems against us.
To forget this truth is to give up prematurely, to renounce our dreams, and to lose the ability to rise after a fall. Without faith and hope, a human being fades away much faster than with the passage of time.

Final reflection:

Time is not the enemy. What destroys us is forgetting that we always have reasons to be grateful, people to share with, and reasons to keep believing. As long as we remember these three truths, time will not be a burden that crushes us, but an ally that teaches us and makes us wiser!
