How to combat an ant invasion

As we all know, ants are a pest that can invade our kitchens at any time. Although they are small, they make their presence known and have the ability to squeeze through tiny holes to reach sealed food. Therefore, the question is:  How do we combat an ant infestation?

The reality is that urgent measures must be taken, the reason being that ants are very dirty because they walk in garbage, sewers, on the street, in hospitals and in every place we can think of.

Therefore, when they invade our home, it’s cause for concern and we need to do something about it. Now let’s learn how to make this homemade solution to exterminate this pest that has invaded our house:

We probably think we have a wide variety of products on the market to exterminate ants and other insects, and that’s true, but we can’t use them every day. We know very well that they are toxic and contain harmful chemicals, so we shouldn’t overuse them, but rather look for other solutions.

In fact, we’re talking about homemade solutions with readily available ingredients that can get rid of ants. For example, boric acid is a substance that kills ants when they ingest it.

Now, if we combine them, it attracts even more ants and becomes a very effective trap. In other words, boric acid mixed with sugar never fails. Furthermore, consider that the ants will carry this mixture back to their nests, and the entire colony will consume it, ultimately killing them all.

Let’s see how to prepare it:

Ingredients

• 3 tbsp. of boric acid
• 3 glasses of hot water
• 1 cup of white sugar
• 1 Pot with lid
• Cotton pads or swabs

Procedure

1. To begin, in a container we make the mixture of boric acid plus the cup of sugar.
2. Then, we slowly add the hot water and mix with a spoon until it dissolves well.
3. Next step, we pour it into the covered pot.
4. Next, take a cotton swab or pad and dip it into the mixture, then place it on a small plate. Remember not to put your hands or fingers directly into the mixture.
5. Once we detect where the ants are passing through the home or where they are settling, we place the plate with the cotton moistened with boric acid there.
6. We’ll leave it there for 1 day; it’s essential  to keep children and pets away from the dish.

Let’s apply this deadly mixture of boric acid and sugar and exterminate the ants once and for all!

Tips and tricks:

Those who have already tried this method with ants say that the ants disappear completely within 2 to 3 days. Our kitchen will surely be free and clean of these unpleasant insects.

Just as ants love sugary foods, they can’t stand the smell of vinegar. So, if you mix equal parts vinegar and water, you can spray it in the areas where ants are present and where they enter the house. Gradually, you’ll notice a decrease in the number of ants and they’ll move away from the area, because the strong smell of vinegar will disorient them.

Herbs and spices also help repel ants. Mint, bay leaves, garlic, and even coffee grounds serve as natural repellents. Simply scattering them in certain areas of the house will help block ants from entering. You can also prepare small sachets with bunches of herbs and place them in drawers or corners of rooms.
