An easy way to remove scratches on your car in just 5 minutes!

By Vitia

Scratches on car paint can appear for many reasons: a rubbing when parking, a branch, a poorly opened door or even an incorrect wash. Although some look small, they greatly affect the aesthetics of the vehicle and give a feeling of neglect.

The good news is that it is not always necessary to go to a workshop. With some basic materials and following a simple method, it is possible to repair and hide scratches in a few minutes, making the car look neat and cared for again.

Here’s how to do it step by step.

Materials Needed

Before you begin, make sure you have everything at hand:

  • Water in a spray bottle to clean the area
  • Fine sandpaper (ideal for bodywork)
  • Filler or filler for scratches
  • Car Color Paint Spray
  • Adhesive tape to isolate the area where you are going to paint

Step by step to remove scratches from the car

1. Clean the area well

Spray water on the affected area and wipe carefully to remove any dust, dirt, or grease.
This step is critical to prevent particles from further damaging the paint when sanding.

Let dry completely before continuing.

2. Isolate the area to be worked on

Place tape around the scratch. This protects the healthy paint and allows you to work with greater precision, avoiding stains or excess product in other areas.

3. Gently sand the scratch

Using the fine sandpaper, gently run over the scratch. The goal is to even out the surface, removing jagged edges and preparing the area for filling.

Do this with gentle, controlled movements, without pressing too hard.

4. Apply the putty or filler

Place a small amount of caulk on the scratch and distribute it evenly. Make sure to cover the affected area well.

Allow to dry according to the product directions.
Once dry, you can sand very gently so that the surface is even with the rest of the bodywork.

5. Spray paint the area

Shake the spray well and apply the paint in thin, even layers.
It is better to give several soft coats than a single thick coat.

Let it dry between coats. This step returns the color and helps the scratch disappear visually.

Final result

At the end of the process, the change is evident. The scratch is concealed, the paint looks uniform and the car recovers a much more careful look, almost like new.

This method is ideal for:

  • Surface scratches
  • Small bumps without structural damage
  • Improve the overall appearance of the vehicle

Final recommendations

  • Work in a ventilated place
  • Don’t paint in direct sun
  • Always use fine sandpaper to avoid damaging the paint
  • If the scratch is very deep and metal is visible, this method improves the appearance, but it does not replace a professional repair
