Pour cement into rubber boots and see what most people don’t even imagine

By Vitia

What for many are just old boots ready to throw away, can actually become one of the most original decorations for a garden. Using cement, sand, and a little creativity, these rubber boots are transformed into solid boot-shaped planters, mounted on two cement bases that create a beautiful, sturdy, and totally unique visual composition.

This project not only recycles, but creates a garden design that looks like it came out of a rustic décor magazine.

Why this trick works so well

Rubber boots are flexible, waterproof, and sturdy, making them a perfect mold for cement. They maintain their shape during drying and can then be easily removed.

Wheel tires or tires work the same: they create circular molds that allow solid cement bases to be formed, on which the boots are then placed.

In this way, the whole is elevated, stable and with a much more attractive design.

Materials Needed

For this project, the following are used:

  • 10 old rubber boots
  • Cement
  • Sand
  • Water
  • A mixing container
  • A stick or spoon for stirring
  • Rubber or wheel rims, to be used as moulds for cement bases

The boots will form the pots and the rims will create two circular bases where the whole will rest.

How to build step by step

First, the tires are placed on the ground, on a flat surface.
These will serve as molds to form the two cement bases.

Inside each tire, the mixture of cement, sand and water is poured until they are filled.
Let them rest until they are firm and solid.

While the bases are drying, the rubber boots are placed in an upright position.
The cement is re-prepared with sand and water, and poured into each butt, filling them completely.

It is important to gently tap the sides so that the cement sits well and no bubbles remain.

After 24 to 48 hours, both the boots and the bases will be hardened.

The rubber is removed from the boots and the rims are also removed from the bases.

Assembling the garden design

Now comes the more visual part.

The two circular cement bases are placed in the garden as platforms.
The pots are distributed on them in the shape of boots, creating a balanced and very decorative composition.

The boots can be placed in different heights, inclined or aligned, depending on the style you want to achieve.

Flowers, succulents, or hanging plants can be planted inside each one.

The Bottom Line

What was once rubbish becomes a set of solid pots in the shape of boots, mounted on two cement bases, creating a resistant, original and striking structure.

It is a design that:

  • Resists rain and sun
  • Does not tip over
  • It does not rot
  • And turn any corner of the garden into a focal point

Every visitor asks the same question:
“Is that really made with boots?”

Bonus tip

You can paint the boots with cement, apply varnish or leave them natural for a rustic style.
You can also add decorative stones or plants of different colors to highlight the design.
