How to clean your washing machine thoroughly to prevent it from leaving lint on your clothes: 3 foolproof tricks

By Vitia

The washing machine is one of the most useful appliances and capable of making household chores easier for us, especially when we need to wash quilts and duvets that become heavier when wet. However, with each wash cycle, dirt residues accumulate which can damage the garments and affect the operation of the washing machine.

Proper cleaning and maintenance are essential to extend the useful life of the washing machine. During cleaning, dirt and detergent residues are eliminated, creating a kind of thin film that traps bacteria, creating a perfect environment for the formation of bad odors.

Bacteria and mold that form on the filter and gasket of the washing machine are resistant to heat and aggressive detergents, and end up clogging the internal mechanisms of the washing machine or sticking to the clothes, damaging them.

Clean the washing machine with white vinegar

White vinegar disinfects thoroughly and its acidity helps to eliminate dirt residues. It also helps to deodorize the entire washing machine.

Fill the washing machine with hot water, add 750 ml of white vinegar and do a short wash. Once the washing cycle is complete, add 150 grams of baking soda and make another one.

Once complete, leave the washing machine door open to allow it to dry thoroughly. Repeat once a month.

Clean the washer seal with lemon and hydrogen peroxide

One of the parts of the washing machine most prone to the accumulation of mold and bad odors is the rubber gasket, due to the large amount of humidity.

After putting on gloves, pour 100 ml of lemon juice, 250 ml of hydrogen peroxide and 3 litres of water into a container and mix well.

With the help of a sponge, apply the eco-friendly disinfectant you have just prepared and scrub well, making sure to remove all residue and dirt. Finally, dry thoroughly.

Now that you know how to clean your washing machine thoroughly, we are sure that your clothes will be cleaner, lint-free and very fragrant.
