Beauty and personal care have become main goals for both women and men. You don’t need to invest large sums in cosmetic products and beauty treatments – there are so many natural ingredients that offer incredible results.

This is the case of baking soda, a product widely used in the kitchen but which has excellent cosmetic properties and can be useful on a myriad of occasions related to our beauty.

Baking soda as an exfoliant. Beauty experts recommend exfoliating your skin regularly, to get rid of excess dead skin cells and dirt. Mix one part water with three parts baking soda, then apply this solution to all areas of the body to be exfoliated and perform light massages. Finally, rinse with plenty of warm water and apply a humectant cream.

Deep cleaning of the hair. Baking soda helps to eliminate dirt and grease residues from the hair. Add a teaspoon of baking soda to the shampoo and wash your hair regularly.

Elbows and knee. These two areas of the body are prone to cracking. Mix your moisturizer with a little baking soda and apply daily by massaging it.

Soften your hands. To have healthy hands and nails, prepare a solution by mixing baking soda and water, and apply it to your hands, letting it act for a few minutes.

Whiten teeth. Baking soda can be used to whiten teeth. However, various specialists advise against frequent application of this remedy as it may damage the enamel.

Natural deodorant. Baking soda is an ideal ingredient for neutralizing bad odors caused by sweating. Apply a small amount under your armpits after showering.

Acne treatment. Baking soda is an ingredient that could be effective against acne, but it should always be applied after first consulting a dermatologist. Mix a little baking soda with lemon juice and apply directly to acne. Leave on for an hour, then rinse. It is important to do this treatment in the evening, because lemon juice could damage your skin if you expose it to the sun.

Relax and soften your feet. Pour 3 tablespoons of baking soda into a basin full of warm water and soak your feet in it for 10 minutes a day.
