Foolproof tricks to remove limescale from the shower glass and make it shine
The bathroom is one of the rooms that tends to get dirty faster, due to the bacteria it accumulates, the soap that sticks to the tiles and the drops of water that, when they dry, leave the annoying limescale stains that make the shower glass opaque.
Water contains calcium, but also other minerals such as iron which, when it comes into contact with the air, rusts creating stains that, over time, become increasingly difficult to remove.
There are numerous products aimed at removing limescale from glass, but almost all of them contain toxic ingredients that can cause irritation to the eyes, skin, or respiratory tract. The ideal is to open the bathroom windows to let air circulate, or to resort to natural, cheap and harmless ingredients for our health.
Water and white vinegar
You need:
- 250 ml of water
- 250 ml white vinegar
- the juice of a lemon
Pour all the ingredients into a spray bottle, shake well and spray on the glass of the shower door. Leave on for 10 minutes, then wipe with a sponge to clean well and remove limescale.
Then pour water on the glass to rinse, then dry with a clean cloth and make a final pass with newspaper, to polish the glass.
White vinegar and baking soda
Heat about 250 ml of water, then pour into a spray bottle, add two tablespoons of white vinegar and two tablespoons of baking soda.
Spray the entire shower glass and leave it on for 15 minutes, then wipe well with a sponge to remove all the limescale.
Finally, dry well with a microfiber cloth. Apply this technique at least once a week.
Water sandpaper
This product is used by body shops to finish car paints. It is abrasive paper, similar to sandpaper, but water-based. Be careful to buy the right product to avoid scratching the glass of the shower.
Pour water over the shower glass using a spray bottle, then sand paper with water. The limescale will immediately come off. After that, dry with a clean cloth.
Of the three tricks to clean the shower glass, the last one is definitely our favorite because it is the most effective and fastest to put into practice. But remember to make sure you buy the water sanding paper to avoid doing any damage.
