Plantain lowers blood sugar and bad cholesterol, removes scars and rashes

The plantain, known for its rich antibacterial and antiseptic properties, is a popular remedy in the East for various skin problems: sunburn, eczema, insect bites, dandruff, etc. 

But that’s not all, the tannin-rich leaves of the herb are also known as an expectorant and diuretic. 

According to traditional Chinese medicine, the herb removes swelling. Its tea is said to lower blood lipid levels, Radio China reports .

Research by scientists shows that the leaves of this plant are rich in vitamins C, A and K, contain large amounts of tannins, fiber and polysaccharides. 

Their studies also prove that plantain leaves contain substances that have anti-inflammatory effects. 

Their juice kills disease-causing microbes, cleans purulent secretions, helps to heal wounds quickly.

Benefits of plantain

1. For the skin

Freshly squeezed juice or mashed plantain leaves have antibacterial, anti-inflammatory and regenerating properties. 

They soothe sunburned skin, insect bites or stings, help wounds heal faster, and the allantoin they contain fights bacteria. 

The combination of cayenne (a type of very hot red pepper), black wormwood and plantain extract is a popular skin rejuvenator that reduces the risk of scarring and blemishes.

Research by scientists shows that plantain can be applied regularly to pimples or acne.

It is also useful for baby skin. Plantain leaves with almond oil removes rashes, and massaging with an ice cube wrapped in a plantain leaf soothes babies’ delicate skin.

It is recommended for fungal diseases to place freshly crushed leaves between toes and hands and even in the groin area.

2. For the hair

Plantain has been known as an effective remedy against dandruff since time immemorial. Rinse the hair with plantain decoction, to which you have added tsp. Apple vinegar.

8. Digestive aid

Drink a cup of plantain tea or add its leaves to a salad to ease indigestion. 

The herb is useful in both constipation and diarrhea.

Plantain is also said to suppress the appetite. 

Therefore, it is recommended for people who are trying to deal with excess weight. 

Steam 3 g of the herb with 250 ml of water and drink the tea half an hour before meals, but no more than three times a day.

9. Against mosquitoes

The leaves of this plant are also useful against bee stings, skin rashes, cuts and pimples. 

Apply the leaf to the affected area, secure with a bandage and leave for 4 hours.

Against acne and blackheads

Mix 15-20 grams of freshly squeezed plantain juice with 10-15 grams of cream and add a few drops of rose oil and a teaspoon of calendula ointment and mix well. The mixture is used against acne and purulent blackheads.

Against gallstones

Plantain seeds are also used to kill parasites. They are recommended as a laxative, especially in children, and in inflammatory conditions of the mucous membrane. 

Consuming eight grams of seeds a day prevents the formation of gallstones.

Gum infections

Place a crumpled sheet on the teeth and gums to prevent infection in the early stages.

For pets

You can wash their rashes or wounds with strong tea.

Face mask

Cut holes for the mouth, eyes and nose on the gauze. Grind the leaves and pour boiling water over them (1:3). Bring the water to a boil again and cook for 3 minutes. 

Soak the gauze in the cooled liquid and hold it on your face for about 15 minutes. Rinse.

Gastritis, enteritis, colitis and stomach ulcer:

Pour 2 tablespoons of plantain with 500 ml. boiling water, cook over low heat for 5-10 minutes. Let it stand for half an hour. Drink 1/3 cup 3 times a day until your condition improves.

Cough, Hoarseness, Cold:

Pour 1 teaspoon of leaves with 1 cup of boiling water, let it stand for 20-30 minutes, drink during the day.

For hard-to-heal wounds, cuts: dry leaves are ground into powder with 2-3 drops of oil and mixed with petroleum jelly 1:9. Apply until healing.

For the prevention of atherosclerosis, strengthening of the vascular wall:

Pour 1 tablespoon of leaves with 1 cup of boiling water, leave for 20-30 minutes, drink throughout the day. The course is one month.

Plantain tea

Products: 10 g of plantain, 300 ml of water.

Method of preparation: Clean and wash the plantain well. Put it in a thermos cup, pour the hot water over it and let it stand for 15 minutes. 

Then strain and sweeten with honey or sky shaker if desired.

Action: The tea stimulates urination, lowers blood pressure, relieves cough and helps to clear plaque in the throat.

Plantain and goji berry tea

Products: 200 g of plantain, 30 g of dried jujube, 20 g of dried goji berries, 1 piece of ginger, 1.5 l of water

Method of preparation: Wash the plantain. Bring it to a boil along with the water and ginger. Once it boils, add the juniper and reduce the heat. 

Let it simmer for about 20 minutes. Then add the goji berries and cook for another 10 minutes. If desired, you can sweeten the tea with sky shaker.

Action: The tea helps with eczema, sore throat.
