I had no idea it was so easy to open a lock without a key!

Losing the keys or breaking them inside the lock is a more common situation than you might think. This article offers a practical, creative and accessible solution to open a lock without the need to hire a professional locksmith.

Using everyday objects, such as a tire valve and a fork, it is possible to build an effective tool.

The entire procedure is described below. You can also follow the trick in the following video on the Inova ou inventa channel:

Materials Needed

  • Old Tire Valve
  • Rivet and riveter
  • Drill with suitable drill bit
  • Tweezers
  • Hammer and iron surface
  • File or sandpaper
  • Hairpin

Steps to Manufacture the Main Tool

  1. Prepare the valve: Remove the core and widen the hole in the base using a drill.
  2. Insert the rivet: Place a rivet inside the base of the valve without breaking its stem.
  3. Shape the stem: Using tweezers, bend the end into an L, then an N. Flatten the tip with a hammer until it is sharp.
  4. Finishing: Use a file to remove imperfections and leave the tip straight and even.

Preparing the fork

  1. Remove the resin from the tips.
  2. Slightly bend one of the ends with pliers so that it can interact with the internal pistons of the lock.

Procedure for Opening the Lock

  1. Insert the valve tool into the top of the cylinder as a lever and rotate on the top of the cylinder as a lever and gently turn it.
  2. Insert the fork underneath and gently press towards the last piston.
  3. Move the fork from back to front by unlocking each piston in delicate motions.
  4. Once the last one is unlocked, slightly rotate the valve tool to complete the opening.

Additional tips:

  • Don’t use excessive force; The key is delicacy and patience.
  • Practice with an old lock before trying a real lock.
  • Always use this knowledge ethically and legally.
  • Share this knowledge responsibly so that it can be useful in emergency situations.
  • Be sure to work in a well-lit area to better observe the movements.
  • Wear gloves to avoid hand injuries when handling tools.
  • Keep the tools organized to make the process easier.
  • Keep a small flashlight handy to illuminate the inside of the cylinder if needed.
  • Avoid applying lubricants before the procedure, as they may make it difficult to grip the tools.
