Simply add black pepper to the toilet bowl.

By Vitia

At first glance it may sound strange, even a little far-fetched, but black pepper hides a surprising secret for the home. This common ingredient in the kitchen can become a powerful ally to keep the house clean, fresh and protected.

How to prepare homemade spray

To get started, you’ll need a clean spray bottle. It can be any size you prefer, but ideally it should have a fine spray nozzle so that the mixture is better distributed.

Ingredients:

  • 2 tablespoons ground black pepper
  • 3 tablespoons white vinegar
  • 5 tablespoons of disinfectant with the aroma of your choice
  • 300 ml clean water

Preparation:

  1. Place the black pepper inside the spray bottle with the help of a funnel.
  2. Add the white vinegar and then the disinfectant.
  3. Add the water and close the bottle tightly.
  4. Shake vigorously until all the ingredients are combined.

The result will be a liquid with a fresh and spicy aroma, very different from conventional sprays.

Why does this trick work?

The real secret is in capsaicin, a compound present in pepper that is unbearable for certain insects. While for us the smell can be pleasant, for cockroaches, mosquitoes, ants, flies and even spiders, it is a red flag that keeps them away.

In addition, vinegar helps to disinfect and eliminate bacteria, while disinfectant enhances the pleasant aroma in the environment.

How to use it at home

Spray this solution around the toilet, on the edges of baseboards, behind furniture, under the refrigerator, and near doors. Basically, in any corner where unwanted insects can appear. You’ll notice that the bathroom and kitchen will stay fresh and smell much cleaner.

Tips and recommendations

  • Always prepare the mixture in small quantities to ensure freshness.
  • Store the sprayer in a cool place away from direct sunlight.
  • Before using it on delicate surfaces, test on a small area first to make sure it doesn’t leave stains.
  • Although it is safe for pets and children, avoid spraying it directly on toys or kitchen utensils.
  • I repeated the application every few days to keep the protection active.
  • If you want to enhance its effect, you can add a few drops of eucalyptus or citronella essential oil, which are also natural repellents.
