Get rid of cockroaches overnight without using pesticides!
Cockroaches are one of the most persistent and unpleasant pests in any home. They hide in dark corners, reproduce quickly, and can contaminate food. Although pesticides are available, many contain chemicals that can be dangerous to children, pets, or sensitive individuals.
Fortunately, there are homemade solutions that can help you combat them safely and naturally. One of the most effective is a homemade trap made with common ingredients like honey, banana peels, sugar, and detergent. This mixture is highly attractive to cockroaches, who fall into the trap and are unable to escape.

Necessary ingredients
- 1 to 2 plantain peels (preferably ripe)
- 1 tablespoon of honey
- A handful of sugar
- 1 tablespoon of liquid detergent (can be kitchen detergent)
Step-by-step preparation
- Prepare the peels.
Place the banana peels in a shallow container, such as a bowl or jar lid. If they’re large, you can cut them into pieces. - Add the honey and sugar.
Pour the honey over the shells so that it’s evenly distributed. Then, sprinkle the sugar on top. This combination acts as bait: its sweet, fermented smell will quickly attract cockroaches. - Add the detergent.
Pour the detergent around or over the mixture. Its function is to break the surface tension of the liquid and trap the cockroaches, preventing them from escaping. - Place the traps
Distribute these traps in places where you have seen cockroach activity: behind the refrigerator, under the sink, near drains, behind furniture, or in dark corners of the kitchen or bathroom.
Why does it work?
- Honey and sugar act as a natural attractant thanks to their sweet and intense smell.
- Fermented banana peel enhances the aroma and simulates organic food.
- The detergent traps the cockroaches and suffocates them by adhering to their bodies, preventing them from moving and breathing.
Tips to improve effectiveness
- Check and replace traps every 2 or 3 days, as they may lose their attractive scent or dry out.
- Keep things clean : Avoid food scraps in the kitchen, clean up crumbs and dry up spills to prevent them from giving them other food sources.
- Seal cracks and gaps where they can enter, especially in walls, under doors or near pipes.
- Wear gloves when handling traps if there is contact with waste, to avoid strong odors or sticky residue on your hands.
How often should you use this method?
You can use it intensively for a week and then keep one or two traps as a precaution. If the problem persists, repeat the procedure once a week until the infestation is eliminated.
A safe homemade method
This remedy is ideal for those who want to avoid chemicals in the home and opt for natural alternatives. It’s not only economical but also easy to prepare and very effective if used consistently and in combination with good cleaning habits.
