This article details how to make a cake described as the softest in the world, following a traditional grandmother’s recipe that has been made often. Don’t miss it!

The recipe is simple and uses common ingredients you probably already have in your kitchen. Below is a step-by-step guide along with some helpful tips to ensure your cake turns out perfectly.

We invite you to watch the preparation through the video on the Fatto in Casa da Alba channel:

Ingredients

  • 3 Eggs
  • 8 gr of vanilla sugar
  • 150 gr of Sugar
  • 120 ml of sunflower oil
  • 150 ml of natural yogurt
  • 250 gr of flour
  • 10 gr of baking powder
  • 20 cm mold
  • Jam (optional)
  • Powdered sugar (for sprinkling)

Preparation

  1. Prepare the ingredients: Gather all the ingredients and make sure they’re at room temperature. This helps them mix more evenly and improves the cake’s texture.
  2. Mix the wet ingredients: In a large bowl, beat the 3 eggs with the vanilla sugar and sugar until the mixture is foamy and light in color. Add the sunflower oil and natural yogurt and mix well.
  3. Stir in the dry ingredients: Sift the flour and baking powder together. Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing gently until well combined. Do not overmix to avoid a tough cake.
  4. Prepare the pan: Grease and flour a 20 cm (8 inch) pan to prevent the cake from sticking. Pour the batter into the pan and spread it evenly.
  5. Bake: Preheat oven to 180°C. Bake the cake for approximately 30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Cooling and decorating: Let the cake cool in the pan for a few minutes before removing it from the pan. Once cool, you can add jam between layers if you’ve made more than one, or simply sprinkle with powdered sugar to decorate.

Helpful tips:

  • Ingredient Temperature: Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature before starting. This helps them blend better and gives the cake a uniform texture.
  • Don’t overmix: When adding flour to the wet ingredient mixture, mix only until combined. Overmixing can result in a dense, heavy cake.
  • Well-greased pan: Grease and flour the pan well to prevent the cake from sticking. You can use baking paper on the bottom of the pan for extra safety.
  • Baking test: Use a toothpick to test if the cake is baked. If it comes out clean, the cake is done. If the batter comes out moist, leave it in the oven for a few more minutes.
  • Proper Cooling: Let the cake cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. This will prevent it from crumbling.

Now that you have this recipe and some helpful tips, you can enjoy an incredibly soft and delicious cake. This recipe is perfect for any occasion, from a family gathering to an afternoon snack!
